Musical instruments

Conditions for transporting your instrument

In the hold

Your musical instrument is considered checked baggage if it meets the maximum permitted dimensions (height + length + width) and weight: 158 cm and 23 kg in Economy and Premium cabins, or 32 kg in Business and La Première cabins.

If your musical instrument (cello or double bass) exceeds 32 kg and/or 300 cm in total dimensions (height + length + width), it is accepted in the hold, subject to prior approval from our customer service team. You must submit your request no later than 48 hours before your flight's departure.

Please note: to best protect your musical instrument during hold transport, it must be in a hard case.

In the cabin

Transport conditions for your musical instrument and its case vary depending on its dimensions (height + length + width):

  • under 115 cm: it may be considered your hand baggage item of up to 12 kg, in addition to your small bag to be placed under the seat in front of you.
  • over 115 cm and up to 45 kg: it must be placed on an additional paid seat, which must be booked in advance. It must be made no later than 48 hours before your flight's departure, with prior approval from our customer service team.

Please note: to comply with onboard safety regulations in our cabins, the case in which your instrument travels must have rounded corners and, ideally, be a hard case.

Pricing

The transport of your instrument is included free of charge in your ticket price (except for Light and Basic fares), provided it is your only checked bag (or one of the 2 checked baggage items allowed in the Business and La Première cabins) and it meets the permitted size and weight limits for hold baggage. If your instrument exceeds the permitted size and weight limits — up to 300 cm (height + length + width) and 32 kg maximum — you will need to pay a fee at the airport, the amount of which depends on your route. In the cabin, an instrument in its case measuring over 115 cm (height + length + width) requires booking an additional seat at least 48 hours before your flight's departure, through our customer service.
